Have a reward booking for 2 pax in J for 5 September SYD to HKT via PER to start a big 5mth trip away. We have decided that life would be better if we left a little early, so have decided to book early August SYD to DPS in J.

Am I better off:
1) Cancelling and then rebooking the new route; or
2) Ringing up and asking to change the booking.

I know I will need to pay $60 a pax whether changing or cancelling, but was wondering whether by going the change route I would avoid needing to pay the taxes and fees again - Or are those refundable? I assume I will be refunded the points difference with the change route as well.

Am VA Gold if that makes any difference.

Cheers in advance for the forthcoming sage advice!

The answer is - cant change so must cancel, pay $60 and rebook. Taxes are refunded.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Following on from this, anyone recently been SYD or another origin to DPS in Virgin J?

Would love to hear your thoughts as to service, catering, drinks and the like.

Tempted to take an inflatable footrest :)

Hi advice needed please, currently have reward seats booked LHR - SYD and would like to book new seats for a week or so earlier, have checked and there is currently availability. Ideally want to keep the existing booking too until certain the new dates suit. I made the existing booking for my kids, through my VA Gold account and have enough points to cover a new booking without cancelling the old. My husband VA Silver also has the points and I am wondering if I should use his account for the new booking? Does it really matter if I have them both on mine and cancel one closer to the time? I was going to call Velocity Gold and ask for advice, but not sure this is something they would encourage! Hope this all makes sense and thanks.

With QF it is less points to rebook - even for a route change but I prefer the tidyness of cancelling a reservation and doing a new one and am prepared to give them the extra points for this.
.
A new reservation means less likelihood of reservation corruption and things stuffing up as agent hasn't done it correctly.

Any reservation agent can make a new booking but a change is more complicated and takes some extra work.
