This site has been a pretty good source of information for stuff - I have changed hotels based on what I read here but usually am not swayed by comments on airlines.

I use Excel spread sheet for planning then use:

skyscanner.com.au
expedia.com.au (and brazil thank you)

I try and read as much as I can about where I am going on here and on flyertalk and plan my outings from there.

This has me wondering what other people do as my method can be tiresome reading 100s of posts with many of them being irrelevant to the actual topic listed.

Are there other sites people us / chat on about their travel?

Oh - I am planning my christmas holiday at the moment so any help will be good

to Malaysia

Yes my new favourite site. I discovered it by accident while in France/Germany last month. Is a brilliant site and a great time saver.

ie with it I was very quickly able to determine whether or not I would include a visit to St Michel on our plans. Only took a few minutes to work out given the rest of our trip, that it would consume too much time.

You'll find most people around here with either have QF or VA blinkers. For example myself when I book a trip I'll usually go to QF as a first point of call, then failing that I'll look to OW. Only once I can not find a reasonable QF / OW fare will I look to other airlines. I strongly suspect I am not the only one.

The reason why there is little discussions around different airlines is most of us have what we're comfortable with. I was thinking this exact thing last week when I boarded QF52 to BNE. I'd just that morning flown with CX to SIN, so I'd seen a slightly different way of doing things, and I was now back on an airline where I knew what to expect with the AVOD / Radio Channels / Food and Drink / Pillows and Blankets / FA experience. There was no major surprises.

I just found a website milepoint.com - anyone on that? Seems very american

Forgive the lack of multiquote: Sites: tripadvisor.com for reviews, comparisons etc. in your case, maybe something with visa information Malaysia: East or West? Milepoint. Not much for an Australian, don't know how a Korean dictator would find it
