Request Classic Upgrade and Bid Now Upgrade?

Wife and I are flying QF7 (SYD-DFW) on Thursday (July 30). I've submitted a classic upgrade request to premium economy (didn't have the points for J), and also received an invitation to bid for an upgrade to J. Can I do both? I assume since classic upgrades are processed first, it that clears the bid for J will be moot anyway; I'm just worried some IT glitch will wipe me from the system if I make both types of requests.

We're moving overseas, so this will be our last flight from SYD for a while; an upgrade would make it a little more bearable We'll miss all you lovely people Down Under!

I guess you *could* do both; but there is no point. Classic point upgrades are processed before the Bid Now upgrades, so if you would only be successful with Bid Now if the classic upgrade comes through.

They're for different cabins though. Classic Upgrade request is to PE; the Bid Now upgrade would be for J. Couldn't it be the case the PE is full and J is not, so the Classic wouldn't clear be the J might?

Sorry, didn't read the OP properly. That complicates things slightly. I don't see any reason you couldn't do it, though I'm not 100% sure what would happen if both were successful.

Thanks, Mattg. I've requested both, kind of hoping the Classic Upgrade to PE doesn't clear but the bid to J does. We'll see how it plays out.
