Hey everyone!

So I have a small challenge....I am currently a gold with QF sitting on about 510sc's and have some major travel booked for the end of the year and would love to use the privileges. But, my rollover period is for end of this may. I am considering doing a mel to ool (via syd) in Y for 80 sc's (flexi) which would get me to 590. In that case, do you think it is possible to be re-qualify by the ff gods or should I get another trip booked in somewhere (be it a syd/adl/etc)?

Thoughts/people who have been there and done that/etc would be appreciated! :)

Cheers,
Nick

Very rare to get a comp when your short of a qual level. 90SC is easily obtained on a JASA which is what I would be looking at, such as going to OOL via SYD then just a red e deal home.

SYD - AKL with EK in J or subclasses of it.
Not cheap, but that will get you some QF points, and if you book with a QF flight number, some (more) SC to boot!
SYD - CHC is also another one, ...
Both in wide bodied, 777 or 380.
EK lounge/QP lounge at SYD entry too.
I will be trying EK J or a subclass of it, later this year.

Thanks for the advice markis10. So J up and y back - that could be worth it! I haven't done a jasa yet, but you have to call up to request that correct? Would you have an idea how many points it would be?

thanks!

So then the overall cost would be higher as one would need to factor accommodation/taxis etc?

How would it be higher than EK even with a few days in AKL, hardly stratospheric hotel pricing??? Not hard to get a room at a four star for $50-80.

Overnight stay then back, it's a daily flight?????

Hmmm. I must have been seeing things. It certainly wasn't daily in April. I know because I was trying to book it for a weekday and in the end settled for weekend.
