I'm currently getting no availability on a J long haul seat on a QF plane.
If I go on their codeshare partner website there's still availability.
Does anyone know if/when codeshare seats are released back to QF if they are unsold?

It seems daft to buy the same seat on a non-QF ticket and lose points/SC's

If this is SYD-JNB, then it's usually a day or two before the flight that codeshare seats are released. If you're talking one of the new EK codeshares, I'm not really sure, as they've only been travel-able for a couple of days now :)

It is Syd/JNB

Currently we are looking at three of us rebooking the whole itinerary on SAA. QF lose the revenue and we loose 400sc's and lots of miles each and fly on the same plane.
Madness

Just had a look at the loading on both codes, and QF is indeed J0, with SA showing C7. I also looked at the option of flying QF to PER, and then SA (on the QF code) from PER-JNB, but the QF code is showing J0 again.

If you're after the SCs, perhaps book with SA, and if the fare allows a full refund, you could always book with QF when fares become available, and then cancel your SA booking for a refund once ticketed on QF. You could also look at flying via HKG or DXB, but that would *considerably* add to the travel time! :)

Thanks ChrisCh

I've asked my travel guys to book the SAA on a fully refundable but waitlist us on QF. I've looked at the DXB and HK options but they get in too late on the Monday for a meeting (unless I leave earlier which isn't an option).
