Refunded Classic Plus points go to cash, not QF account?

I made a change to a Classic Plus award - cancelling one leg of a return flight.

I think Qantas refunded me the cash value of the points (ie higher than taxes), but didn't refund points.

This doesn't seem right - is this a common error? (I'm on call #3 and email #2 about this with QF).

I think this is by design/intended, as classic plus assigns a $ value to the points used at the time they are used, they dont have a fixed value like classic rewards.

So they refund the value attributed at the time, not what the value might be today.

Classic plus is essentially converting points to cash at a usually poor value rate, except of there is a great sale on.

The agent when I asked for the change quoted a taxes refund and a points refund... and the change fee was taken from points.
