Reducing the E190 fleet...

Blimey. Had missed that little note in the results.

Add me to the E-jet fans ... doing the Mel-Syd commute for last 3 years has seen me flying them often, and often on purpose. VA WP row 3 leg room is awesome and no prospect of nigel-no-status getting 3E to p*ss me off like the 738s. :)-) )

Damn that nigel-no-status! ;)

(2-2 definitely is much better – I also go for a window seat on SQ's A330s when I can, for this reason)

Year those E90's are nice to travel in, rows 1, 2 & 3 rock!

Shame to see such a reduction.

I don't mind the E-jets (quicker loading/unloading, 2 x 2 in Y), but it's a huge shame the cabin wall is flexible. Nothing like a 6am flight that I want to sleep on, only to have a 5 year old constantly kicking the wall, making it bend for me in the seat in front!

Love the Ejets, apart from 3C, no good for those with a gammy right shoulder ;)

Maybe that should go in the "You know you're a frequent flyer when" thread............answer, when you know not to select 3C on an E-Jet!

It's been so long since I've been on a jungle jet. I used to like it when VA had them on Adelaide runs. Quiet, spacious, comfortable.

Almost forgot about this until I was looking at a trip to BNE coming up, and it all suddenly came flooding back!

Alas, only 73H options this time. I'm gonna miss those E-jets too... :(

what is the main reasoning for VA doing this? just cost cutting, or fuel saving?
I do a few flights each month between BNE-ROK and will always pick the Ejet over the ATR- especially when WPs can select row 1 and 2 on the EJets

Essentially: Cost per seat mile vs the alternative aircraft. And matching available capacity to demand.

I was talking to one of my friends who works at Virgin and he was telling me that they are looking at getting rid of the whole E190 fleet as it costs to much to operate over the 737's. Will be sad to see them go! I asked what are they going to do with some of the thinner routes and he said they are looking at sub leasing F100's to operate them. Will be interesting to see what happens.
