I've got a few long/short haul flights with CO/UA coming up next month and due to the fare class I can't earn any points with TG but I can with TK...

However I'm silver with TG and get additional/free baggage allowance on my flight as a result.

Has anyone had any luck getting the miles credited to one star alliance member's FF and then say showing your silver star alliance FF for another and reaping the benefits?

I suppose it's just one of those things you've gotta try, but if it seems doable I'll have to get TG to send me out a new card!

In OneWorld there's nothing stopping you using one card to credit miles but another t gain lounge access, so I'd expect you could credit your miles one way while also using another card for the benefits.

You should be able to do this. There are two "fields" in your PNR that relate to frequent flyer programs. FQTV is for the earning of miles in whatever program you live, and FQTS is for status recognition. Can't confirm re CO but I know UA have the ability for you to enter both of the numbers into your booking.

Welcome to AFF :D

A little off topic since not UA or CO, but since the implementation of Altea there are four FF fields that Qantas can apply to a PNR or each of its individual segments.

  • Accrual
  • Redemption
  • Upgrade
  • Service

Frequent Flyer Status/Points and possible demise of FTQTS/FQTV? - FlyerTalk Forums

FWIW I had 2 bookings recently, one with TG and one with SQ, that both had my KrisFlyer in the booking. For one booking I changed over the FF number to BD at the gate and for the other booking I changed the FF number over to BD twice at check-in. No problems and they credited to BD within days.

So in theory you would still have all the benefits listed with your status and change the FF number at the last minute.
