Recent QF SYD-MEL fly-ahead/standby experiences?

I reckon I get fly ahead on the golden triangle pretty much 90% of the time regardless of the fare base (Mon-Fri mostly though).

I was Platinum and I missed my flight due to late arrival of international flight, and the flight got pushed from 11am to 5pm.

Must depend on status. Lots of success on Qantas Link and domestic (P1) even with sale fares,, not as much on trans tasman

If there were seats available on earlier flights you should have got them even without status in that situation. Nothing to do with fly ahead.

No just WP, But I think flying the golden triangle so much helps they always seem to be amicable on those routes
