Reasonably priced car rental in Europe

I have marked this company (Oscar.nl) as a potential if hiring in Northern Europe (NL). "The following services are included in the price - insurance, kilometers, green tax, and the roadside assistance. You can read more about our subscription here." There must be other small operators like this in other countries. Anyway a dummy booking of 3 weeks for a mid-size SUV returned a Citroen Aircross (5 seater) for €42.30 per day.

Regards car size, I am always concerned checked luggage x2 and cabin luggage x2 will not fit in many smaller cars. Even a Mercedes C200 requires Tetris skills to fit this luggage in the boot. What do others do?

Don’t mean to be Captain Obvious, but book a bigger car, pack less, or take the train + taxis

I meant more along the lines of do people cram excess into the back seat. I would be paranoid about being broken into with bags visible through the windows.

Yes and if (when) they get stolen, insurance does not cover loss since the items weren't secured, such as in the boot.

Have just booked my car for Spain in August. Qeeq didn't have the car I wanted. rentalcars was just $5 a day cheaper than Alamo but the discounted the GPS so basically no difference. So I booked direct. Avis though were much dearer direct and Qantas were no where near the lowest rates.
Just about everything comes with GPS these days, so why pay extra?
