Today's QF19 from SYD to MNL (which arrived about half an hour early in MNL) was operated by a 'domestic' A330, VH-EBL in place of the normal 'international' configuration A330.

This is at least the second time in six weeks that this plane has run QF19.

Like all transport operators QF has to pull planes out for maintenance, but shouldn't it normally have an international configuration A330 spare in SYD?

If this substitution occurs, have our more creative J class booked AFFers asked QF for either a partial refund or additional QF FF points given the effective seat downgrading?

While airlines the world over say in the small print that they have the right to change aircraft types should operational circumstances dictate, a domestic A330 in J is a significant reduction in seat pitch if I am not mistaken. It does not match the image QF protrays in its advertising for international medium haul to southeast Asia.

I doubt you'll get a refund but you would probably get some points if you complained.

Sorry but get the facts right - EBL is an international configured 332. There are 4 of them in the fleet, and have been doing the international runs for a long time.

This is a face palm moment.

Vh-ebl is an international configured a330 rather than a domestic configured. Ebl has skybed mk1 and ife in all classes. Despite this it does fly domestic routes regularly. If a domestic config a330 was substituted i would be asking for compensation but in this case qf has used an international config on an intl route.
