RATINGS agency Moody's say Aussies charged more since Tiger's Grounding

There is no doubt my air travel is more expensive than this time last year. Is it all because of Tiger. I think not.... There are other significant industry events which have happened around the same time, including the evolution of Virgin, increased loadings on some routes, and the general "health" (comparatively) of the Au economy. I am certainly surprised to see the comment attributed to Virgin that have dropped their fares. I know from HBA I not seen any evidence of that!

All three airlines are 'gouging' the tassie market at present, largely due to tigers absence.

Hba is a strange market as there is a feast or famine with premium fares. Football, concerts, cricket, knitters weekend conferences all have a deleterious effect on value pricing at certain times.

Ultimately the airlines need to make money to remain viable. That point is well evidenced and not in doubt.
