Where did the SAR chopper go, I am sure they could have borrowed HEMS2!

I am not sure about the SAR chopper but if the Roulettes were away it would probably be away and I do know that HEMS2 (Helimed 1) has had a busy week.

Having said that the area is awash with helos and NAS Nowra is not all that far away so I'm sure they could have found one to use if necessary.

CHC have had a second B412 parked beside Helimed 1 for most of the week.
East Sale SAR Chopper is an S76
Helimed 1 is a B412
Jayrow have 1 S76 based at West Sale
Jayrow also have 1 S61 based at Longford Heliport
Esso have 6 X S76 including one on immediate SAR standby whenever any of their a/c are offshore.

The East Sale SAR chopper was in WA (with the Roulettes) at the Red Bull air race so not available for immediate chasing of lost bits. Between the others in area SAR is/was well covered. Helimed 1 (50 NM west) on 24 hr call and Esso (7 NM south) have an immediate response SAR a/c when ever they are flying offshore. (Normally 0700 through to 1700)

The PC9 was on a test flight and had an undercarriage door ajar, which by design meant they were both ajar and when it tore open they both did and so both came off. They know the approximate area but practically the chances of finding it are very low as most of you would realise.
