Hello everyone

i need 605 points to reach platinum Qantas status. I live in Sydney.

How best (cheapest) can I get these points by Oct 31, 2015 ?

a genuine thank you in advance.

Hi Weemala08 and welcome to AFF. As noted above lots of ideas in the thread.

If you're travelling overseas the WP (platinum) will be very good but if just domestic then SG (gold) is adequate.

Hi Weemala08,

I think you should really weigh up what Platinum is worth to you, as 605 SCs is a fair way off and getting there won't exactly be cheap. But if you're determined, there are a few options for you. You'll almost certainly need to travel overseas.

My recommendation would be to fly to LAX at some point in October. If you book now you can go for $1049 return in economy. Then from LAX you can fly around the USA in First class relatively cheaply, bringing in the SCs. The sweet spot in the USA is AA flights in F that are greater than 750 miles in length.

For example, this itinerary would cost ~USD$1300 and net 520 SCs. Add the 90 SCs you get for SYD/MEL/BNE-LAX and you're over the 605 mark.

Weemala08, welcome to AFF.

You might care to get your terminology correct for your questions to have precise answers.

If you are referring to QFF status (e.g. Platinum, Gold, Silver etc) then you are seeking ways to increase "status credits" which can only be gained by flying.

QFF points, on the other hand, can be earned without flying (e.g. credit cards), and are not connected with status levels.

Cheers.

I've chased fare more SC in the past, but 605 is pretty much half of what you need... so my question would be, what travel are you planning for next year that's going to make it worthwhile?

You'll get Domestic J lounge access, International F lounge access, 25% more points...
