Questions Re: BKK / SIN / QF52

Got a few questions regarding some upcoming travel in Thailand and SIN.

I believe that from 1st Feb Thailand was stopping the collection of the international departure tax at the airport and including it with the purchase of the ticket (I believe it was added to my booking with FD when I booked). Can anyone who has used BKK in the last few days confirm if this is the case? Would be painful to have to get cash out at the last minute.

My QF flight out of SIN leaves at 2120, so checkin would generally open at 1820 however I'll be at the airport at about 1500 (I'll have a bag to check in). Is it possible that Qantas will allow me to checkin earlier? I know there are the flights to SYD that leave at 1900ish so the counters should be open. The QF website, in the SIN section, says:
"A 24 hour check-in facility is also provided by Singapore Airport Terminal Services at row 3."
Does this mean I'll be able to checkin there, or is this only for without baggage or something?

Finally, I'm on QF52 SIN-BNE which, as mentioned, leaves at 2120. Does anyone know what the mean service in Y is for this flight (ie: will it be dinner and snack before arrivial or snack then breakfast before arrival). Just so I know how to prepare myself (ie: stuff myself in the QC if they won't be feeding until the morning!).

In theory your statement is correct but I would be surprised if all airlines have implemented the collection of the departure tax in the ticket price by 1st February.

Finally, I'm on QF52 SIN-BNE which, as mentioned, leaves at 2120. Does anyone know what the mean service in Y is for this flight (ie: will it be dinner and snack before arrivial or snack then breakfast before arrival). Just so I know how to prepare myself (ie: stuff myself in the QC if they won't be feeding until the morning!).

The last time I took this flight, July 2006, it was dinner and breakfast. Can't imagine that this would have changed.

Yes the way things are going over there at the moment I'd have to say the same. When I booked the FD flight the tax breakdown listed an "Airport Tax" of 700THB which I paid. Don't know how I'd prove that though if they're still collecting taxes from some pax at the airport but hopefully it'll sort itself out.

The last time I took this flight, July 2006, it was dinner and breakfast. Can't imagine that this would have changed.

Thanks, suspected as much. For some reason all the other flights give a brief meal description on the QF site, but this one just has "Meal: Yes"

Flew out of BKK on SQ last week.

They told me that the dpature tax was included in my ticket but not all carriers were doing it this way.

I have checked in early for QF52 but I travel with carry on only so not much help im afraid.

Meals is dinner and brekky. Not normally impressed with either so eat something at the airport (you will have time to kill) and try and maximise your sleeping time on the plane.
