Hi folks,

First time poster, long time lurker! I have a few questions to hopefully draw on your experiences.

In May/June, myself and my wife are planning on heading to do a 3 stage trip to Europe - Sydney - LAX, LAX-NYC and NYC to somewhere in Paris/London. I currently have about 50000 velocity points and will hold Velocity Gold within the next week. Not much plans to fly after that for a while however so won't amass a huge amount more points.

I am considering applying for the Amex 50000 bonus points credit card deal ($349 annual fee) to make sure that we can snag 2 reward seats. T&Cs states the wait time for a card is 10 days which would bring me to 14th February. T&Cs also state that bonus points are applied within 8-10 weeks of your first purchase - is this a realistic timeframe? Has anyone got it quicker? Is it possible to request them quicker? Do they automatically credit into your velocity account or do they sit on your credit card?
If it took as long as 10 weeks, this would only leave us with 1 week to secure a reward seat through the Virgin site. This doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment but obviously May is heading towards peak season so the amount of reward seats may decline.

Has anyone had any luck redeeming velocity points for Delta flights internally in the US or from US to Europe?

Is the above all a total waste of time and should I just be happy with my one reward seat?

All help much appreciated!

Sorry I can't help you much with your award question but perhaps you would have been better off by posting in the Velocity forum.

As for credit card sign on bonus points they can take 8-10 weeks to post from first purchase.
