About 2 or 3 days ago (31/07 or 1/8) I saw some sale fares on Qantas from Sydney. They were about $65 or $68 each way to places like Albury, Wagga Wagga, Armidale etc.

The thing is - I have never seen this sale advertised and when I went to book a flight to Albury the next day, the price has gone up to $139 each way, and for all the other destinations too.

Does anyone know anything about this, or know if it would still be possible in some way to get the $68 fare? I haven't really seen a sale for a route like Sydney-Albury before, so I am really disappointed and doubt that I will get a cheap flight for 23 Jan 08:(

Is there anything I can do? Thanks

Hi Leny.

The sale was a short lived Qantaslink sale which wasn't widely advertised. I believe they may have advertised in some newspapers and informed travel agents of the sale.

The sale ended on the 31st July. So you have missed out.

I don't believe there is any way for you to get a ticket at that price unless Qantas has another Qantaslink sale in the near future.

Oh no :( I should have booked when I saw it

Thanks for the info mal :)

I saw this momentarily when I got back from Thailand last week.

I was going to book every possible NSW destination I have not visited yet and then the fares disappeared. I guess some Christmas, New Year specials will appear again soon and I want to book some cheap QF flights as I will be spending Christmas and New Year in Australia this year for the first time in 5 years.

What you need to do when you see sales fare on Qantas.com you are interested in is check the details of the sale.

E.g. For sale fares out of BNE look here: Bookings - Flights - Domestic Specials - Brisbane

Today, you will see the "Get in Early Sale" fares listed.

Click the and a pop-up will appear showing the sale terms:
Get In Early Sale
Seats are on sale until midnight Monday 6 August 2007 (AEST) unless sold out prior.

These one way specials are valid for travel from Tuesday 5 February to Thursday 13 March 2008.

Hurry - seats are limited.

I'm really disappointed too JohnK, they were such great deals, and it would be my first time on Qantaslink. :(

I did do that. There was no symbol next to it, it just appeared to be an everyday fare. Inside it said the travel dates which were sometime from December to February. There was no email about it and it didn't appear to be a sale at all.

It actually looks like a train ride for me now :-|

Has anyone ever caught the Sydney to Melbourne XPT? I'd like to hear what you can tell me about the Economy and First classes. Economy is $50 and First is $71 because I'm a student. I will probably go first, but i'd still like to hear other people's experiences.

Qantaslink sales don't always end up with the 'sale' moniker's on the Qantas website.

Don't know why.

I have just talked to a friend who lives in Albury, who has told me that the airline, 'not qantas, the other one', is advertising a one way sale from Albury to Sydney. The only other airline I can think of is rex, but when i search their website, it comes up with the usual $138 price.
