One of the fare rules of the OneWorld Circle Pacific fare is that travel must be via North/Central Pacific in one direction and South Pacific in the other. Whilst South and North Pacific are obvious, my question - what defines Central Pacific? Does HNL fit into that category, or is it still considered South Pacific?

My understanding is that HNL is south pacific.

Essentially, one direction must be via Asia, the other not.

Basically, one Pacific crossing must be one of these:
  • AA between USA and NRT
  • CX between HGK and USA or Canada
This is the North Pacific crossing and as you can see there is no option to use HNL for this crossing.

The other Pacific crossing must in one of these:
  • QF between Australia and USA (including LAX, SFO or HNL)
  • LA between Chile and SYD or AKL

Thanks for the help. Trying to fit in a DCIRC22 and minimise the time spent on AA transpacific (although Inotice the flights to NRT are day flights - are they OK for day flights in the J cabin?).

If I leave from & return to SYD instead of MEL I can fit in routing via HKG, so I can use an AA code on a CX flight from the US to HKG. Oh, the other Northern Pacific crossing I found was on AA from ORD to PVG.

I would definitely suggest CX from HKG.
Much, much, much better option than AA from NRT.

If a choice between CX night or AA day, I would take the day flight on AA. The AA seats are definately ok for day flights with a decent 60" pitch

I agree. AA international J is quite good for a daytime flight. And I try to avoid long overnight flights. Does not always work as I was today booked on the daytime CX885 LAX-HKG, but due to a delayed MIA-MIA-LAX flight this morning, I am now booked onto the CX881 at 1:55am tomorrow morning . So my night sleep in a HKG hotel has been exchanged for 12 hours Flounging at LAX and as much sleep as I can get in an overnight CX flight.

what happened - someone threaten a FM or utter the b word?
According to the captain, there was heat where heat should not be somewhere inside one of the engines. So we had a nice reception by the MIA fire bridage as soon as we landed. They finally decided it was going to take too long to fix so found us a spare 767 to move to.

But the 3 hour delay meant I missed my HKG connection. So I am filling in time in the T4 Flounge waiting to see if I am on the 11:55pm departure or the 1:55am departure . Makes for a very long travel day - about 15 hours so far from leaving my hotel, and will be about 44 hours by the time I arrive at my hotel in KL.

There are worse places to spend the time than an F lounge - presume you're in T4 not TBIT (shudder)

I spent the first 6 hours or so in T4 Flounge. But around 8:30pm I had to go to the CX check-in desk at TBIT and of course am now stuck with TBIT lounges as my only option.

The CX FLounge at TBIT did not open until 9:30pm, but the JLounge was open earlier. The CX FLounge is the nicest I have found at TBIT, with nice furniture etc, but the food/beverages are the same as all the other lounges.

I am stuck here until my 1:55am departure! At least I have 86C (upper deck exit row) seat assigned.

congrats on the good seat
It gets even better than that. About 30 mins before boarding the lovely Rosie (CX FLounge agent) came and asked to look at my boarding pass. She had a new one for me .

The Krug is always good on CX. And the smoked salmon and caviar appetiser is the best starter I have ever experiences. And the dim sum breakfast is a much-have dish.

Gotta love CX for the op-up.

No there is luck to be shared. My mileage upgrade to F cleared at the last minute (NZ->Europe in sky suite for 55,000 miles). Then on 2 other legs a day or so later got op-up into regional F.

There are definitely advantages to having high status on SQ.

Now lets see ... 3 x DONE4 fares that include CX between HKG and LAX, and I am yet to turn right :D.

Always turning left...hmm...how is your new job as a flight engineer going? :)

They have tp turn right, go upstairs, U-turn and then head forward through the great unwashed of upper-deck business class passengers .
