AFF Queensland Flood Appeal

Our thoughts are with all those impacted by the current floods in Queensland.

But let us not forget the impact the floods have on wildlife, domestic, and farm animals.

There are many organisations doing outstanding work in bringing some comfort to these poor animals. We at The Australian Frequent Flyer would like to do our bit too.

So, we will be donating all funds we receive for new GOLD or SILVER subscriptions made today, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (13 to 16 January 2011) to the RSPCA Queensland Flood Appeal.

AFF Member bossreggie has added his support to our appeal. He has donated a prize of the use of a Mercedes-Benz convertible for a weekend to ONE member who upgrades their membership during this period. The car will be available from his Mercedes-Benz dealership in Melbourne.

The winner will be drawn at random from the list of NEW AFF GOLD or SILVER subscribers created during the period 13 to 16 January.

Some existing AFF paid members have expressed interest in donating to our Flood Appeal and thereby participating in this draw.

So, we have now opened up the competition: If you are an existing paid member or don't want a paid membership, you can still take part. Simply donate $50 to RSPCA Queensland at https://donate.rspcaqld.org.au/flood, and then PM me proof of your contribution. Your name will then be added to the draw for the prize.

BTW: So far we have raised $490 (7 x GOLD and 4 x SILVER). Lets see if we can hit $1,000 by Sunday.

WOW!!

I am SO PROUD to announce that our (little) Community raised a whopping $2,000 for the Queensland Flood Appeal.

This comprises of:
$1,510 - AFF Paid Memberships (16 x $35 and 19 x $50)
$325 - donations made directly to RSPCA by existing AFF paid members
$165 - AFF rounding up to make a total of $2,000

Attached is the emailed receipt from RSPCA for $1,675 ($1,510 + $165).

PS. For those who are interested, this is the process we used to establish the winner: I send 2 spreadsheets to a moderator. The spreadsheets comprised of a list of candidates in each of the categories. The moderator then randomly assigned a number to each name. The new spreadsheets were then sent to bossreggie. I then (without seeing the new spreadsheets) used my trusted iPhone to generate 2 random numbers (one for each prize category). These numbers were sent to bossreggie, he then matched the numbers to the lists and identified the winners!! I’m sure you will agree this was a completely unbiased, transparent, and fair process.
