QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

I wonder what inventory QF is making available to partners?

As a WP I’m seeing very little premium cabin availability even on the day of release.

Like most airlines, I’m assuming QF make less inventory available to partners than they do their own members.

If so, might it be possible that QR and others have withdrawn award seats from QF because their members aren’t getting any seats?
Personally I have low status with Qantas so while i use their points I dont use them on Qantas flights, partly because I never see availability internationally and also would be concerned about getting bumped by a higher status.

if their partnerships go to garbage i'll certainly drastically change, perhaps amex ?

There is availability on BA. For example:

Hmm, I'm looking at July and couldn't see anything (except for economy).

Also a pain to go via CBR - seems that is the only routing with some business, as you have found.

Also just checked this and it doesn't show on AA. Nothing is showing on AA right now.

July is always tough, but the point is that there is award availability on other OW partners that is NOT available to QFF members. With Asia Miles, for example:

Well it’s not available to AA either. And you keep finding to CBR only.

But you seem quite good at this so anything you can find around 9/10 July? :) I’d live with CBR and then routing back to SYD

Near term lack of availability is not a surprise. Seats get snapped up 330 days in advance.

(Edit - misread the date)

Of course QR seats aren't available to other Oneworld partners on every date and route in business class. This was never the case.

The issue at the moment is that no QR flights are available to book using Qantas points in J for travel dates later than mid-November 2022, or in any class of travel after mid-April 2023. Even seats that are available through other Oneworld partners (which again, isn't on every flight - but there are some as shown above) are not available through QFF.

I think I’ve also stated other partners don’t have access - like AA - and there is essentially none on any route apart from that one to CBR. So it’s not just QFF.

Partners do have access to seats that are available. There aren't many in J to/from Australia except CBR, which was already the case, but there are lots of other seats available on other QR routes such as flights between Doha and Asia, Africa, Europe, etc.

You're conflating two different issues here.

I really am not. If you go to the Flyertalk AA forum the same issue is being discussed - no inventory available after Aug 5.

Actually, even in and before November, it seems like Qantas doesnt have access to J available to BA and Asia miles, for example the ADL-AKL route.

Seems widely available on several dates on Asia miles and BA.

Ofcourse, not on Qantas.

Doesn't show on AA either. Although some say you might be able to call and book it over the phone for AA and it's just an online issue; not sure if that is the same for Qantas - but up until August 5, there was inventory - now none online.

Just had a look - yes, you're right that many QR seats are not currently showing on the AA website. This wasn't initially the case when the seats disappeared from the QF website but it does now look like the same seats that aren't showing on QF are also not showing on the AA website for the same dates etc.

Not sure if these seats would still be available over the phone with AAdvantage.

However, QR seats are still available on the JAL or BA websites, for example. So maybe it's a QF and AA issue?

I found these just now, for example:

Can AFF reach out to QF to ask what is going on?
QF started releasing 2 award seats for flights to/from Aus airport a few months ago, then there was no availability on the QR network for a few weeks. It came back for a short period when Canberra flights launched and now everything is gone again... Is it IT issues and QF themselves don't even know it?
Did they realized they screwed up by giving out additional seat on Australian routes and regret it?? haha

Can AFF reach out to QF to ask what is going on?

We reached out to both Qantas and Qatar Airways on the day that all the QR awards disappeared from the Qantas website two weeks ago. This is stated in the AFF article on this issue:

I also followed up again with Qantas last week. So far we have not received any information, other than that Qantas is investigating.

The Qantas media liaison has been calling the Qantas call centre trying to get an answer. Unfortunately, after 25 calls and 210 hours on hold, they still cannot make it to the Hobart team to obtain an accurate answer.
