New routes for QLink starting 3/11/25, the use of Perth T1 is interesting

The services will operate twice weekly using Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft in full economy configuration.

Route information:

  • Inaugural service will depart Perth on Monday 3 November 2025
  • Services operate twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays) from Terminal 1 at Perth Airport*
  • Flight time is approximately 5 hours Perth to Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands
  • Perth to Christmas Island/Cocos services operate as QF361 and QF363**
  • Return services operate as QF362 and QF364

Could T1 be a typo? That's a very odd choice.
External territoy flights (e.g Norfolk Island, etc) generally leaves from the International Terminals instead of the Domestic terminals.

I would assume QF(Link) doesn't have the facilities or rights to utilise the external territory flights out of the international wing of PER T3.

Wow, interesting news. Have thought about travel there the last couple of years so good to hear of a new option.

Given all other QF international flights leave from T3, why wouldn't this one? Maybe QF don't want to pay more to have customs and immigration operating at an extended time?

Using T1 means no lounge for QF elites either, unless QF stump up for the Aspire lounge.

I assume Virgin ended the contract as they are ending A320 ops in November.

They have held it from the Skywest days as far as I recall.

I assume there will have to be the same fuel stop at Learmonth on the way up when heading to CKI?

IIRC, VA flew the route three times a week and headed different directions around the ‘triangle’ on different days. I wonder if QF will also?

Just needs a paint job change and it could be December this year!

Exciting news. Dare i dream of being able to use points to these destinations? Or will that not be possible like it wasn't when Virgin had the contract.
Va did allow awards to CCK and Xch as I flew there on points in 2016...but later on you could not use points. Hopefully Qf will allow award flights but I would not hold my breath....edit: in the press release, it said redemption seats will be available.

Va flew from T1 (International) and Va Gold / Plat could use the KrisFlyer lounge when it opened.

Both interesting places and deserve ar least one visit in your lifetime :)
