QFlink NSW changes including a lounge for Tamworth

I won't be doing my usual run to Sydney this weekend (I'm on call in Tamworth over the weekend) but I'll be able to get photos on Saturday 13th.It will be interesting to see how they manage arrivals access - I can see them having a few issues about the rules. The ground staff aren't always good with the QFF rules - they've argued with me about my WP checked luggage entitlements, for example. I'll give it a try sometime and see how it goes.TMW is crying out for Virgin to start services. It's a one airline town that is getting gouged by Eastern Australian Airlines (T/A QANTASLink). It's ripe for disruption by VA.
OK firstly any reviews yet ...? Q. Can you use the lounge if unattended on arrival into Tamworth as well as departure. My next trip in is the Mon 15th arriving and leaving either Thu 18th evening or Fri morning and usually just grab a coffee outa town at the west Tamworth Maccs before starting my day either to Narrabri / Moree or Armidale end.Adam
thats My Q also

If you are WP, then this should be a benefit. I'm interested to know how they will cope with this though in TMW. There's one agent there that seems not to like me because I'm aware of the entitlements that WPs get and he seems to see it as he's doing me a favour whenever he checks in two bags or assigns me an exit row. Asking him to grant me arrivals access to the TMW lounge is going to be extra fun!

I've found Tamworth ground staff generally quite good...except for one lanky chap with attitude.

@QantasAirways: Today we officially opened our new Regional Lounge at Tamworth

Photos and story @ Qantas News or via Twitter

Wish QF would introduce a QantasLink flight once a day between MEL-DBO-BNE and back and keep flights out of SYD the same.
Every time I fly to DBO (6 times a year) I see about 5 or 6 people on the same MEL-SYD flight then over to DBO. Even if it was 2 or 3 times a week, I would move days just to fly direct.
Anyway, I live in hope one day, it happens.

Was in the new Tamworth lounge last week. New paint and laminate smells. Corporate colours and furniture.
Perfectly comfy. Made for a bit of a haven compared with all of the other regional NSW airports I've been in over the last few weeks.

No wifi ("coming") but beers (if you call xx_X beer - there were others too) and wine available. Packaged biscuits, muesli bars, tea and coffe.

It's a bit tucked away on RHS past security, with door code printed on boarding pass if you're eligible.

I am here now. Unfortunately they only have checkin at the desk an hour before, but I could mobile check in and get the code. The security people have offered to come and get me so that I can go out and check my baggage.

Not QantasLink...but there is an airline on the cards to start by year's end. Have been in contact with the CEO and he seems like a fairly affable chap. Details on the new airline available on their website -

If it's after security I assume its key code entry?

Travelling on business (with checked luggage) I can't see myself upon arrival going past security to enjoy what's in the lounge. My best opportunity is to print boarding pass for departure and get in the lounge earlier than usual.

The xx_X in yellow is obvious. I wonder what (beers) are in green and red cans. The red can could be coca-cola?

Great pics many thanks for the heads up, I fly in this coming Mon morning.

Has anyone yet been able to answer my Q how do you get in there on arrival ..? will they print the code on my PB in Sydney ? Doubt it.....or do I have to beg and plead with airport staff or security, all Qantas was able to offer as an answer via twitter was, "they pass the feedback on"

for me it's important as soon as I arrive I pick up a rental and either head east to Armidale or north to Narrabri or Moree and a quick cuppa and fresh up before a long drive is very welcoming.

I think you'll be the test case, but chances are you wont get the code until you get there. Shame the entry can't be connected to your QFF card and a swipe would let you in.

I think you would be an interesting test case. My experience of the TMW ground crew is that they're not really up with the QF status benefits, so you would probably be educating them. Don't be suprised if you get the "but it's a departure lounge, not an arrivals lounge" line. Also, security don't keep the departure lounge open all the time, so it might not be possible to get in either.
