QFi to Japan post 747 retirement

however I'm told that some B744s will remain in the fleet until at least March/April 2021.

Wouldn't surprise me, as otherwise QF would be operating with three less international widebodies next Xmas with only 3 787s scheduled this year.

Unless HND change their 380 policy, I can only see a 787 going there - you want the premium capacity

Ddin't realise that QF already put their flight codes and numbers onto JQ flights now.
Granted I have ever priced the flights on the JQ website, never chased it up on the QF website.

This has been done for years, it is nothing new...

QF has put their code on a large number of JQ flights for as long as I can remember. Though, last time I checked, they don't sell J on JQ widebodies under the QF codeshare.
JQ international flights have a QF2xx or QF3xx code and JQ domestic flights have a QF5xx_ code.

Is your statistic on flight movements, or passengers handled?

There are two huge airports in Beijing now - Beijing Capital (PEK) and Beijing Daxing (PKX). As most Skyteam flights have moved to PKX, I wonder if that comment is accurate (coronavirus disruptions aside). Also, Dubai has two large airports too, with the main passenger gateway DXB being complimented by Al Maktoum (DWC) for freight and low-cost airlines.

This only supports your point though about how busy HND is... I suspect it must exceed PEK these days, but perhaps not DXB. (Where is SIN in the rankings?)
pax. The full year 2018 numbers
ATL 107.4m
PEK 100.9m
DXB 89.4m
LAX 87.5m
HND 87.1m

2019 half year
ATL 54.3m
PEK 49.2m
LAX 43m
HND 41.4m
DXB 41.2m

SIN is at 19th overall on 2018 (65.6m) and 16th for 2019 half (33.2m), 8th in Asia.
By movements, HND is at 18th overall with 453,126 in 2017. In Asia, it is behind PEK, PVG and CAN (and IST depending on if you count it as Asia or Europe).

I have a flight AY 86 on 23rd June PEK-HEL, is that flight likely to change from PEK to PKK ? That is if I am still vertical. It is becoming a worry as there are other ramifications such as being alowed to fly after being in Beijing etc. Who knows??? I will give it a little more time to see whAT DEVELOPS.

PKX opened late 3rd quarter last year. We'll have to wait for the full year 2019 numbers before we even get an idea as to how much the new airport has impacted numbers at PEK and any resulting change to HND's position in the ranking.

HND and DXB have usually been very close in passengers numbers. The 45 day closure of one of DXB's runways in April/May may put HND ahead in the rankings for 2019.

Finnair started operating 3x weekly to PKX last year, which has obviously now stopped temporarily due to coronavirus. Whether they will restart flying to PKX, PEK, or both after the outbreak is contained is anyone's guess.
