QFF Status Points time of earning?

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm wondering when my QFF points and status points get credited to my account. Do I receive them shortly after booking or at the time of travel?
I've really only ever redeemed bonus points and the last time I paid for a flight I didn't pay attention to when I actually received my status points.
My membership year ends in November and I'm just short of silver status. I also have a couple of overseas trips to take next year. Basically if I book a flight now for next year will my status points hit my account before my membership year is up or will they not arrive until closer to my trip next year? Or should I just book a domestic flight to depart before November? (I have to fly soon anyway but will only receive the required amount if I pay extra for the bundle on Jetstar)

Points and Status credits are added to your account only after you take the flight. If you don't fly you dont get the points or credits irrespective of having purchased a ticket. The only way to get to Silver is to fly before your membership year end.

Once it only ever happened once in my whole Frequent Flyer lifetime that it so happened ...........I did not fly, but somehow got the SC and Points. Miracle shame it was only economy.

Just bear in mind that JQ Points and SC are notoriously slow to post (i.e ~ 8 weeks or so).

And just to give you the last bit of information, points and SCs are credited to the day you board the plane at the local time of the country you board.

However, as noted above some airlines, notably JQ can take several weeks to be posted.

yeah that's what I was worried about. hopefully the SC points from my upcoming flights are credited before the end my year.
Can I earn points if booking for a flight for another passenger, or are the airlines on top of that trick and wont give me any?

Points and SCs from QF flights usually post within 24 hours, I've only every flown JQ as a redemption so never earned points from them. Recent BA flights I did took 6 days to post points and credits.
