I spoke with a SA guy yesterday and he just said Saver fares were the ones to target for release potential. Not further elaborated but.

I've tried requesting last month flights to JNB in J, for over a month long period for 320-350 days and there was not 1 seat available. When I look at EF on the seat map it says all the seats are occupied. Had myself and the Hobart agent stumped.

My guess is they've stopped releases for SYD-JNB while they sort out passenger reallocations for PER-JNB, which is currently zeroed out:

I thought so too, that's half the problem they don't know what's going on. What aircraft is going to be flying here or there. The reliability and confidence isn't high.

Planning a trip Syd to Atlanta to Vancouver to Sydney in 10 months and initial research has no J flights and pretty poor Y flights on offer.

You can only get flights released for QF Metal only.

If you care about SCs that is the perfect route to fly paid F.

A$845 on AA via DFW, and that earns you 140 SCs. That's good value.

Today I happened to see a J seat on 3 Aug come online so snapped it up and canceled the seat they released for me. Weird to have rejected me then released a seat two weeks later?

Also, I hope my canceling the seat won’t count against me next time I ask the droid…

So looking at expert flyer and the release of award seats, if the fare buckets of I and D are available should we be able to ask QF for the release of those seats as a Platinum member?

Yes, for a Platinum that is what the agent on the premium desk told me, class I for International and D for Domestic availability and they can request the release of seats.

For Platinum I is the fare bucket for international rewards, out of curiosity do QF send requests to revenue management for manual review. I know it it was reintroduced for P1s some time back.

It might be sent off regardless if you get certain call centres who can't use the droid. That's what happened to me a few days ago.

I'm not sure if it was manual or the droid who granted it, but it went to confirmed within about 5 minutes of hanging up.

I haven't been able to get any requests manually assessed as a WP post covid. But the fare buckets listed in the wiki are still valid.
