Ok last year I was WP( I think thats what the abreviation is)

I am Gold this year, however I am in Fitzroy Crossing with nearest QF/JQ airport being in Broome. I would like to retain my QFF Gold status.

Any thoughts on doing some runs out of Broome??? I have only have about 70k Points, and dont really want to spend thousands to achieve it. Also timing will be a issue as only have a few days at a time free

What is your current SC balance?

Would suggest that with zero SC and only 70k points you would be better off just purchasing Qantas Club membership

Yes 0 SC at the moment, thought it would be a tough slog, first time in about 5 or 6 years I am not Gold or WP. I am lifetime Silver, which I dont think means much.......

Additional Status credits required by 31 Dec 2013 to retain Gold: 600

Are you going to be flying anywhere for work or leisure?? If you get over to the US doing a status run can net you SCs pretty cheap...

Wait till the last three months of your membership year when a DSC offer might be made, then look at DRW TSV, by that stage the availability and hotel rates will be cheap. Getting to DRW is easy enough with Air North, in the meantime look at buying some Epiqure wine to boost the points balance.

Silver is better than nothing, at least you get 50% points bonus and free seat selection etc.
Cheaper to pay for QP than do a status run from 0 to SG (imo).

Cheers for the reply. I am guessing DSC means that they may offer Gold for another year.

We
shop at Woolworths in Derby at times, never thought about FF scheme
when shopping, so will sign up for that. Not a wine drinker, so that
ones out.

Was thinking DWN might be the go. I am going to try
and get one trip in before end of June, as I have the double SC offer
until then I think.

Double status credits (DSC) may change things for you, might be worth a couple of obscure JASA's but the low point balance may make it difficult

If you have the double its worth it, given DRW-TSV via BNE earns 560 SC return for 48000 points spent, also earns 19000 points in flying and a status bonus, so real cost is closer to 30000 points plus cash.

If you don't fly much with QF anymore, then purchasing Qantas Club membership would be a complete waste of money. In terms of status - there might be some logic in spending money/points to retain it - that is if circumstances are expected to change next year and you will be doing a lot of QF flying again. If that's not the case though - ie if you don't expect to do much QF travel in the foreseeable future, then neither QFF status nor QP membership are worthwhile for you.

Doesn't silver also get you one free QP pass per year?

Whole heartedly agree with this. It would be pretty disappointing to spend the time and effort to get to Gold status if you aren't going to make use of it in the following twelve months.

Is the Economy or Business?? And is that using the ASA options??

Another alternative if status runs and QP membership fees aren't worth it (ie not planning on a lot of GF/JQ flying next year) are the single entry Qantas Club/Business Lounge passes available on Ebay. The same kind Silver get, as well as some credit cards hand out. They go for $40-60 odd (per person, per entry) and if only doing a handful of QF/JQ flights are cheaper than a membership.

Cheers for all the posts.

With me moving around a lot and changing contracts/jobs, I never know where I will be next year and how much travel I do.

So if money and points permit, I will take a run to DWN then TSV, that should just about qualify me for Gold again.

Darwin (DRW) run via another city in JASA can be good at times too.

You'll get more points by not flying direct.
