Saw this on LL this morning. Should be useful for peeps looking for a couple of extra SCs and/or redemptions.

Unfortunately my cards are automatic monthly transfers and don’t qualify.

Note that the QF link in the article takes you directly to a registration page that might not be linked to you, so keep an eye out for an email from QFF?

The T&Cs on that website seem to suggest that it is targeted. Whether it's targeted or not I wouldn't qualify either.

They ran a very similar promotion towards the end of last year, although the maximum was 150 SCs that time.

Received my targeted email at 6am this morning, a few days after it was reported in LL. Don't think I'll be taking Qantas up on this one.

I haven't received a targeted email regarding this. I assume it is because I took up the offer late last year to convert Amex Membership Rewards to Qantas Points with the bonus Status Credits. While I might feel left out, it is no great loss as I have only enough now to exchange for one single Status Credit closer to Lifetime Silver or Gold.

These sorts of offers make me edgy. So much incentive for QF to devalue points sometime. Say by 20%.

And just a little annoying that if you have all your points stashed in QFF already you're excluded...

would be nice an offer to convert QFF points to SC without travelling but we can dream...

There is something similar for renewals in that you could pay in points to retain your status. IIRC it was something lije 100k points to retain WP, whether you were short 50 SCs or 500. Can't remember if you waited to be offered or if you just asked. Never had to chase it up pre COVID.

What would be nice is using points for Lifetime SC at the right price.

Points to retain status doesn’t give any status credits. It just waives the requirement to get the status credits for one membership year.

Agree, and this could be win-win for both Qantas and the flyer if Qantas allowed SC purchases at slightly better rates than what is achievable through Points Club awards.

That would be somewhere around 180-200 points per SC, or 250-275 SC per 50,000 points.

Would this be a viable way to purchase Lifetime Gold? Not really, you'd need to spend 2.8 million points - far more than most QFFs would earn in a lifetime. It would simply help those who need an extra 500 here and there to qualify while also building a lifetime tally.

I for one would be a bit tempted though I don’t have anywhere near that many points. The chance to take years off the journey to LTG would be an interesting idea.

I actually wouldn't mind if I don't need to travel to earn SC. It saves time for other things.

Well if they did it they could also cap how many you could purchase each year etc.

Finnair do something like this with their programme. Their award points can be converted to tier points (their equivalent to status credits). From what I recall they have a limit to what you can convert of I think 50% of the amount required to retain status or move up to the next level.

I think something along those lines could work well for QFF, as you would still have to get a certain amount of status credits from flying, but there would also be more incentive for people to really focus on collecting points.

There seems to be some sort of offer at the moment where you can buy Qantas Club membership with Qantas Points and get up to 100 bonus Status Credits, so in effect converting points to Status Credits.

1 Year Membership for 74,000 points earns 50 Status Credits
2 Year Membership for 136,000 points earns 100 Status Credits

Unfortunately though when I tried it didn't seem to let me sign up, presumably as I already have lounge access with QFF status.

Strangely I didn't receive an email for this offer but did via snail mail. The offer isn't nearly generous enough to make me want to have even more points tied up with Qantas at the moment.

Same here - no email (when I got the email last time), but snail mail arrived this week.

I can't see why they would need to limit purchase of SCs. Converting miles to SCs for people who don't fly much would be a sweet deal for Qantas as these people would hardly ever use their expensively bought status.
