Due to two faulty fuel pumps in one engine this flight returned to LAX because there was insufficient fuel available to reach Australia. Flight time was about 10 hours. Is there likely to be an entitlement to either SC or points for holders of boarding passes for this flight?

Hi hillster19 and welcome to AFF.

Seems you are asking if you can get SCs and points for the trip LAX-LAX? If so I reckon you're out of luck given they are awarded based on departure and arrival locations.

Oh and you actually have to travel on a flight not merely hold a BP. ;)

You will get SC and FF for LAX-MEL. Not for the diverted flight.
Qf will even give you the SC+FF even if you you were reaccomodated on to say UA or VA to travel LAX-MEL

No, you are not entitled to points and SC's, although you might get some points as a "sorry for the inconvenience"

So you want SCs and points twice?

I like your thinking but unfortunately you will only get them once.
