I have been lucky - I usually book my AA flights on separate PNRs in P (First Class) so I'm glad it hasn't happened yet. Having said that AA is fine for same day rebooking it's just that if you have booked First/P you will end up sitting in economy class.

Call the next airline yourself and try to re-book? Have you got Travel Insurance?

This must have made you really hot under the collar.

Hopefully the resolution will be a breeze.

Thnaks for making me chuckle lol

i booked aa first class ... What are the odds of being put on a non oneworld flight? There is an air canada flight 6 hrs later that'll get me there for midnight.. Worried about losing my accomm now too... Ive got travel insurance via credit card but what a nightmare 3 days before christmas!!

Speak to the lounge staff about adjusting your AA flights now (before everyone else does!).

And give your credit card insurer a call to see what they will cover.

You are in luck - you are protected should you be late!

AA have a documented policy relating to oneworld mis-connections on separate tickets...

oneworld - Separate Tickets
...
AA to/from AA or a oneworld® Carrier

If a customer is holding separate tickets on AA or another oneworld carrier, customers holding separate tickets where travel is on oneworld airlines should be treated as through ticketed passengers. In the event of a disruption on the originating ticket, the carrier responsible for the disruption will be required to reroute the customer to their final destination. The ticket stock of the second ticket must be of a oneworld carrier, eligible under the Endorsement Waiver Agreement. You may contact AA Reservations 1-800-433-7300 (U.S. and Canada) or outside the U.S. and Canada, reference Worldwide Reservations Numbers for additional information if the separate ticket is for travel on a oneworld carrier.

Initially this was a vent, but now we see it is a good thing the OP posted here, as Serfty has come up with a policy that many of us wouldn't have known existed.
Proves the value of AFF, (and Serfty ;))

It's certainly worked well for me in the past with non-connected tickets - the messy bit is usually that QF tell you to go see AA and AA know nothing about it (typically fixed by furious keyboard punching....)

In my experience AA and QF staff are unaware of that policy... I was in the AA lounge in YYZ last month and my AA flight to JFK was delayed 3 hours so it was very likely that I would miss my onward connection to QF108 (YYZ-JFK and JFK-MEL were booked on separate tickets). The lounge dragon called both QF and AA to find a solution and the consensus was that I would have to cancel my QF booking and re-book with penalty. The dragon also tried to rebook me on the YYZ-LAX flight to connect with QF108 in LAX and the request was rejected my AA because I was on 2 PNRs. So I would say it is a very nice policy, but last month both AA and QF staff did not know about it.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow how the OP went. QF93 just departed at 15:20. 4 hours late.
