QF81 - A380 on Saturdays from Jul 15

Does the QF81 always get turned around in SIN as the QF82? Looks like the 81 is operated by a 333 today (VH-QPG), though QF and EF both still show QF82 being operated by a 332. Hoping it’s the former, as I find their leather seats hot & uncomfortable on an over-nighter!

Cheers,
Matt

Couldn’t turn it around in time for that one as it is scheduled less than 45 mins after QF81 arrives
QF51's scheduled arrival time does allow time for the aircraft to turn around to operate QF72 so in theory all the inbound A330 (QF51/71/81) today can rotate to another route outbound

Yes, but the QF81 333 couldn’t operate QF72

Looks like I was on this flight with AIRwin.

IFE came on around half way through the flight.

The plane was like a furnace until shortly after takeoff. It did not help that we had (what at least felt like) what felt like an extended period of time on the ground (I boarded around 12.20am and I was far from first, plane pushed back around 12.55am and took off just before 1.20am). Despite all that, as AIRwin has said, it was freezing.

Arrived in Sydney at around 10.16am so just short of 4 hours late.

No champagne for PDBs in J as the champagne was warm (presumably because of the cooling issues they had). We were offered juice or water.

Was not particularly fun.
Another one who was on that flight... (!!) I recall after takeoff a more detailed message from the Captain... IIRC the aircraft had been sitting outside all day...so heated up..and the APU was U/S due to parts unavailability, which was apparently an industry wide problem at present? Interesting if accurate. Boarding was delayed until the cabin temp was down below 30 (and not much if you ask me) and that was achieved by running one engine at the gate..(?) (Thats what I thought was said anyway) Not fun. Thank God for lounge access is all I can say. Meal service in J in the "main cabin" was very slow. I for one was grateful for the cold cabin later on though...under the blanket and slept. Was not offered PJ's although other pax were (I didn't want them...just noting the fact I wasn't given the choice) And although it is neither terribly significant, or really related... I'll just point out that this was the 11th flight of a complex multi itin trip involving SQ, GF, MS, LH, AC and AF. It was also the only flight that was more than a little late. QF DID manage to deliver my bag in SYD though, which AC had been unable to do in YWG for 4 days..LOL....so there is that...

Which lounge were you and @DAC1 in?
Business. I was cheered up immensely when we finally COULD board, by one of the J passengers in the Lounge who did a wonderfully flamboyant circuit around the lounge letting everyone know, complete with extravagant gestures...:)

I went in there for a quick coughtail in between checking out the other lounges (including BA and EK) and also taking the Skytrain which passes through the rain vortex
Excellent bartender I thought. (Made a really good Moscow Mule lol) AND was seemingly completely unfazed by the extension of his work day. It was a bit of a sad ending to a great trip though. I had flown in to SIN on AF (my first long haul flight with them, and in J) and THAT flight was far, far better.

Yes I should have ordered from him rather than take one from the pre-made drinks tray next to reception

I had what was meant to be a 5 hour layover (before it got extended) so I went QF J -> BA -> EK -> QR -> boarding gate around 8.10pm -> QF J.

Wish I knew it was going to be as delayed as it was, QR lounge was faultless and I would have loved to have spent a few more hours there.
