Hi all,

Have 4xJ booked on points for MEL-CNS-MEL in July. Flight was originally showing as an A330, then the schedule has updated to downgrade it to a 737. There's still a smattering of days around where QF702/703 use a widebody, so is this a change that could be reversed (or am I being wildly optimistic)?

To add to that, it looks like J is now sold out for most of these flights. Has anyone ever found themselves in a place where QF have oversold domestic J when the config has changed?

I've recently had a PER-MEL in September go from A332 to B738 and back to A332 in the space of a couple of weeks.

Things are shambolic at present; who knows what can happen?

If you don't have EF, I can check, if you need more info.

Im in same boat for 26 June which is the first day of Vic school holidays. Hard to see how 1 QF is enough. There are shirtload of JQ flights though!

QF 702, 09/07
QF 703, 15/07

If I go through the process of using EF to create my one free alert (and then cancel) they are both showing as fully occupied 737s. Don't know if the paid version shows you more information than that (probably).

Guessed it is probably very dependent on which routes are open in the region and how heavily they are booked (eg. NZ/Asia) as to whether the A330s are deployed domestically or not. A constantly changing situation as you said.

Seems.. doubtful... they would revert back.

I have the feeling the 330's are being redeployed elsewhere and QF is going for schedule flex with say an extra 737 from SYD and MEL (IIRC) to make up for it.

Possibly they might of course change back given how volatile these things are but given some days still retain 330 equipment it seems like decisions have been made.

I'm also affected by this myself. I had 3 of 4 330's reduced to 737's on the one day. Disliked :)

Lucky you're still flying (although inferior product). When an A332/3 gets subbed for a 738, lots of pax get downgraded or need to change dates.

It happens in order of status and fare class. A non status pax paying full J is more likely to stay in J while a WP or SG in U Class may get downgraded.

Great work thanks, as I suspected.

You've seen this happen I guess? I'll take as a bonus then that I still have the original itinerary in place :)

So this thread prompted me to look at my own booking. and what was going on on the day.

Well what do you know.. a few weeks back QF cancelled the 922 (the A330 SYD-CNS) and created a new flight in a 737 2 hours later which I was moved to, giving me a long connection in SYD and of course a not as fun experience. Yesterday I noticed hey presto the 922 was BACK, and in an A330 (grr).

Well so I tried changing back online, but QF helpfully wanted a fare change. I thought bugger that. Inventory was available so I called. Now don't kill me but a 12 minute wait (as P1) last night and a fantastic VIP Team member saw the history in the PNR and changed me back to the 922 without any incident or charge. As one would expect.

I was very happy.

So anyway the point is that it seems that, like the PER flights in May referenced in another thread, things are in flux (sigh) well you may want to keep an eye on the schedules to see if flights reappear.
