Just saw my QF35 flight in late July is operated as an A380 (the older version of Biz). Anyone know the reason for this?

When Scoot are selling fares in economy, one way SIN-MEL, with no luggage, no meals, no IFE for >$1000 for most of July, it's indicative that demand > supply and perhaps money to be made by deploying an A380.

It's actually due to the late arrival of the last B787. Because of this, there are/were tech crew and aircraft restraints and therefore needed a few changes in the network.

But also would be a nice addition to the $$ though.

I also posted on the P1 thread that I noticed this switch and looks like I’ve been moved from my J seat to F. With J service?

Hah. I’m on QF35 on Sunday 16th on a 330 -200. Which is weirdly showing a huge amount of blocked seats in Y (full J cabin so guessing no upgrade for me!)
It does look like I may have a WP shadow though, so for a relatively short hop (I’m a QF9 kinda guy) I’ll live with it!

Not sure that is fun considering it is the old biz class, a380 is a bonus though.

If I had a business seat in a QF A330 or B787 and the aircraft change was to an A380 with the old, terrible 2-2-2 config, I'd be spewing.

I have a flight in October to HK on an A330-300 in business, I hope it doesn't change to an A380.

If changed to a B787, I wouldn't mind though as it's the (same) newer product and is at least in a 1-2-1 config.

Anything other than a 1-2-1 config on a widebody, in 2023 is unacceptable for business class IMO.

Emirates is THE worst though, 2-3-2 in business on the B777s? That's like going back to the 90's.

Fly the new version of biz enough not to worry about it. The larger planes is the bonus. Food etc, will be the same.

School hols are over by then.

I think its more just aircraft availability. Lack of anything else to operate this service
It may well be due to aircraft availability, and school holidays are over but when you see Scoot charging $1000 AUD + ( in fact some flights are $1300AUD) during the last week of July for a one way SIN-MEL flight in economy - no luggage no food - I am sure QF are able to cope with having to put the largerA380 on the route due to aircraft availability.

Does the F seat (operated as J) have the mattress topper? If I wish to sleep during the day due to overnight flight DRW-MEL (catchup on a few Z's) would they deploy topper??

Flew QF35, sold as J, had VIP line seat us in F cabin. I originally picked 1K but this was changed on check-in. On board I saw that 1K was unserviceable and unoccupied. Mattress toppers etc were supplied.

Wow! We travelled QF35/19JUL in 1K. The cabin manager tried to fix seat - said it was off its rails and stayed in upright position all flight. Amazed that over a week later, its still broken. Mattress topper was business class topper for old J seats - better than nothing

Must admit I'm not familiar with the specifics and differences of F/J bedding material, so unsure as to what version.
VH-OQL today - at least there was no refrigeration fault!

I was on QF35 as well yesterday in J. Apparently last week they had to downgrade 25 J passengers due to faulty seats.

VH-OQL I think now is going in for a refurb, definitely needs some engineering attention that's for sure.
