QF27 From MEL?

Just watched a QF 747 fly over my house which is unusual. So, as any AAF'er worth their salt would do I went inside and checked FlightRadar24. Tells me it's QF27??

Checked departures from MEL and didn't see any 744 flights listed departing around the same time.
Appears to be heading to Tasmania, anybody know what it is/was?

I saw it too! It's been in the papers. Yesterday's delayed QF27 SYD-SCL flight had to return to Australia and diverted to MEL due to the SYD curfew.

No, the original flight had to divert to MEL (after a mechanical fault was discovered en-route) due to the curfew in SYD.

Sorry, what I meant was the aircraft that was diverted seemed to have a different VH-Oxx number to the one that is currently flying QF27

Yes, because the original aircraft had mechanical problems.
