I’m flying on QF2 out of London next week.

Will the Qantas staff let me check in bags first thing in the morning, while QF10 check in is open?

I’m staying at the airport and might be a bit tight getting back to the airport after a long day, so if I can drop them off first thing that would save me a good chunk of time.

Right. But as long as I go in the four hours before QF10 I’ll be fine.
Hey @liamg how did you go with your checkin? Did you manage to use QF10 counter for your bags for your QF2 flight?

Nope. Rejected at 8:30am-ish by the staff member, supervisor and manager. Impossible to open the flight, they said. They didn’t care about what the site said.

Had to drop my bag at a left luggage station instead. Sent Qantas the bill - only as an act of catharsis and not because I expect them to engage meaningfully.

The site doesn't actually say you can check in for other flights, though. You can perhaps imply it, but it isn't specifically stated.

You’re right about that.

But to say the airport can’t handle receiving a bag that long before a flight is plainly nonsense. If I was on a BA flight which arrived at 7am and connected to QF2 at 9pm there’d be no question about whether they would transfer my bag for me.
