once again i am choosing to get to the states on the above service. can anyone tell me info about the flight - type of 747, config, load, etc.

if anyone can offer expereince with Northwest that would be great too. i am flying them to Detroit Metro this week also.

cheers

Looks to be the 56 Business; 356 Economy 747-400.

Comparing seat map with availability is giving weird results.

Only 4 J seats "free" when looking at the seat map, yet J9 D9 C9.

Y has about 50-60% of seats pre-assigned and Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 R9 L9 V9 S9 N9

I find this a little weird too. Would have expected the N and S classes to be less if the plane was fairly full (Remember not all PAX will have a seat given to them at the moment. A good proportion will be given them on the day).

Anyone else want to comment on the seat map/availability?

Mal... Sometimes I cannot work out what is going on with QF and their availability...

One of my colleagues was flying sub-load (partner works for QF so ID90) late last year SYD-LAX and availability was wide open as above, but I phoned through to Qantas and they told me that the flight was 40+ oversold in whY. Needless to say my colleague was bumped from all three flights that day, and ended up on the 2nd flight the following day!

I would have thought the flight was relatively empty, but I was amazed when I found out how full it was!

Bigjobs,

Aircraft for tomorrow's QF175 should either be VH-OJA or VH-OJI, both 2-Class 744s, as you're aware.

Sorry I can't be anymore specific. Have a good flight.

Cheers

For those of you who are interested ...

QF175 on 03 May 2006 was operated by VH-OJI, 2 Class 744.

OJI has AVOD fitted and it worked and worked well all the way over to LAX.

I have done this flight so many times since the beginning of March 06 that I am now on a name basis with some of the crew from the Brisbane base who work this flight!

Cheers from Detroit for now ... I am off to the baseball!

Oh, and PS: the less said about Northwest Airlines (NW) the better IMHO
