Hi guys

I'm on a chat with Qantas customer service, and am being told that QF12 is operated by AA.

Has anyone flown this flight recently and found this to be the case?

Travel documents indicate that it is operated by Qantas and not AA as the service agent would seem to be indicating...

Thanks

Why call up, what's the question?

I was planning to do a longer stopover in LA to visit family on the way back.

However as the chatbot seemed to believe it was an AA operated flight he was not able to make the stopover change for me

I'd never do any flight bookings or changes through chat if I could help it. While calls can take time and be hit and miss I think it is a far safer method. Thankfully you've learned this the easy way.

I can't even get my head around this chat response.

"Fly with Australia's most popular airline" is the current title text on the website. (But not Los Angeles to Sydney cos that's operated by AA).

Definitely get on the phone. There may be a queue but I'd really suggest the telephonic approach.

QF12 is operated by QF, and will remain so until QF decides to redo their flight numbering structure.
All QF flight numbers between 1 and 199 are QF operated international flights. 200-399 are codeshared international flights.

The AA operated LAX-SYD flight is AA73. QF and AA currently don't codeshare on QF11/12 and AA72/73.
