According to the rules it should only be credited as a single segment. Anyone banking on this flight to achieve the 4~ should probably not take the risk.
QF11 SYD-JFK via LA considered 1 or 2 segments (need to complete 2 eligible fights for FF Status)

Correct. At best it is an unofficial bonus.
