QF11/QF12 Tuesdays change 388 to 744 - results in loss of F service

I have an F booking on QF11 next year.
They are changing aircraft on a Tuesday (my booking) for a 744 instead of a 388 and got an email about the change.

QANTAS on Wednesday (18NOV15) afternoon local time gradually updated its inventory for Sydney – Los Angeles route, which sees the oneWorld member reduces operation from 10 to 7 weekly. The frequency reduction will take place from 25APR16.

In addition, Tuesdays operation for QF011/012 service will be switching from Airbus A380 to Boeing 747-400, as First Class service is no longer available for reservation.

Has anyone else been in this situation before? Obviously I could ask to be moved to another day or re-route through MEL. Not so keen on the MEL option, however getting there overnight may help. But then I have accommodation to sort out.

If anyone has had this happen, what did you end up doing/being offered?

You can fly to MEL that morning and connect to QF93, I'd probably be proactive and call and tell them what you want. They will put you in J SYD-MEL so some extra SCs will come your way. A bit of a long way around but the alternative is you could go on the new AA 777 in F.

Personally I'd take the long way around, or change days. Maybe for the inconvenience they can send you the day before and provide a night of accom. I would have thought there'd be special arrangements for affected F

Ask to be moved to the AA flight in F.

I would call up and ask to move to QF93 ASAP. Is this an Award ticket ? If so I don't think there is any chance of getting moved to an AA flight.

Mrscove and I got on a 744 sub to LAX when I had booked and paid for an A388 ride. I negotiated the cash refund before take off the night before and the business class ride was smooth and the service was fine. You only get SCs for the ride you take and I did win some brownie points by proving to Mrscove I could still buy a ticket.

I called and am now flying one day later which turns out to be fine. Wouldn't be keen on AA F if QF F was available!
Oh - mods I realised it should be "aircraft change" in the title. Because QF11 is still operating a daily service, just that the 388 on a Tuesday is going as QF7 to DFW instead of QF11 to LAX from April 2016.
