Hi all,

My brother, who has been overseas and I haven't seen for a year, is flying back on QF10 tonight. I just went to check tracking and it says the flight took off about two and a half hours late, although it arrived in Dubai (from LHR) on time.

Two and a half hours isn't that much of a big deal, but that means he is now arriving at about 11.30pm, which is all too late for the whole family to struggle out to the airport for.

So... my question is.... does anyone have details on why QF10 was delayed? :(

Thank you!

This is confusing...
Qantas Flight Status and FlightRadar24 show it enroute to Melbourne and currently near India.
ExpertFlyer and Google are saying it returned to DXB after departing at 0137.

It appears that it departed, didn't get very far, went back and departed again at 0309.

I'm sure the media will be happy to have yet another "Qantas plane turns back" story.

Similar thing happened to me in June on QF 10 wound up going down the runway then hard on the brakes. Rode around airport for 30 minutes then back to the gate to let the brakes cool down. Turned out to be a faulty indicator. 1 1/2 hours later wheels up and off we went. These things happen

Remember that 'departed' does not mean it took off. It just pushed back from the gate. If the aircraft had actually taken off, it most certainly would not be flying again 90 minutes later.
