We'll be flying QF1 SYD-LHR which stops in SIN now. ( I've spent a good bit of time searching here and flyertalk and can't find any details on what the procedures are in SIN (I did find a lengthy thread about the SIN lounge), which seems surprising to me -- I'd have expected a some discussion. Likely my searches just haven't used the magic keywords).

Do we have to get off with all our hand baggage and reclear security in SIN? So if I've taken toothpaste and mouthrinse and such out of my liquids bag after clearing security in SYD, I have to put it all back in the one bag in SIN? How strict is the security check in SIN?

How much time will we have in SIN? From EF, it appears to be 1:40 in SIN? Is that enough time to check out the lounge?

It's the same plane (unless one goes mechanical or something)?

Yes you need to exit the aircraft with all your carry on items. You will exit directly in the terminal without going through transit security. Transit security happens at the boarding gate just before re-boarding the aircraft. There is usually enough time get to the lounge.

1:40 is plenty of time. Basically 5-10 mins to get to lounge, 5-10 mins to get back to gate, back at gate about 25-30 mins before departure, so that all up about 50-60mins in lounge. Or 25 mins in the QF lounge and 25 in the EK lounge :p Even if the plane is running late, there's still plenty of time as it takes a certain amount of time to turn around an A380. Difficult to trim too much off the time in between the sectors.

As for liquids and gels, at SIN they are not required to be placed separately into the tray, they scan them in your carry-one. I've never been picked up on having small items separately, although of course they should/will pick up anything that looks like it is bigger than 100ml.

If you want a shower, make a beeline for the showers esp at the QF lounge!

On all transits even if same plane, they always make you take everything off with you.
I watch a lot of Youtube's to sate my flight voyeuristicness, and on all flights on transit stops, pax have to get off with all worldly goods in regards to hand luggage.

That is not universally true. I've flown lots of flights that are direct with one or more stops where you have to remain onboard.

If you're in F you don't have to wait for the shower. At least that has been my experience on a number of occasions.

The BA shower rooms are a little smaller, if that is of any concern to you.

That was a good word AustraliaPooch - you could have also used voyeurism, voyeuristic, voyeuristical, and even voyeuristically! :)

I flew through Singapore on QF1/2, in first twice in December and neither times could I get a shower when in the QF lounge, the lines were too long, both times I was flying first.

Our flight was delayed 2 hours out of Sydney and when we got to Singapore we still had plenty of time to go to the lounge and have a look at a few shops. The flight was still delayed out of Singapore to London and then late into London. I thought that they may reduce the time of the stopover in Singapore due to our delay but they didn't seem to reduce it at all.

It depends on the port the transfer is happening at and which direction.
eg, CX888 HKG-YVR-JFK, pax continuing to JFK have to get off with everything and go into a secure room for US style rescreening and bag searches.
for CX889 (JFK-YVR-HKG), I hear that pax continuing to HKG don't even have to get off.

Sounds odd, given you would be off the plane first, through security first and into the lounge first.
Did they say how long the wait would be?

Did they "escort" you from the desk upon arrival after seeing your F BP?

Yes, both times we were escorted to the F seating area in the lounge from the desk.
Getting off QF1, as the flight was delayed into SIN, I wasn't prepared to wait so didn't ask how long the wait would be, was just told that the showers were all occupied at that time.
Getting off QF2, it was a decent about of time. There was one disabled shower room available and I said I would take that and they said no that I couldn't have that one, that I would have to wait and that there were others ahead of me. I gave up and didn't bother waiting, just went and enjoyed a drink.

A380 has 3 doors, if they are all opened simultaneously, entirely possible that others beat F pax to the showers, especially the fast walkers. No security to pass through, just the lounge dragons to get past :) . Also, for the QF1 connection, QF37 arrives from MEL around the same time, most days of the week. If they got in slightly earlier, could easily fill up the showers with connecting passengers from that flight. Then there are possibly others connecting from codeshare flights (on Jetstar Asia) or travelling to MEL on QF38. For the QF2 connection, the lounge is already starting to get busy with pax travelling to PER, SYD, MEL & BNE....

Thanks, this is very helpful.

The thing is F class & P1 are meant to be first in line. Surely not that many ahead

I've sat in 48A a few times, which is where first usually exit. The upstairs door can be opened far earlier than the downstairs door, so you'd be behind business, and all the status flyers in premium & upstairs economy.

I've seen first class travelers escorted to the showers and put into the disabled one. So I think the secret is to ask for a shower at the front desk.
