Howdy,

Boarding my first ever MH flight on Sunday from MEL-KUL in economy and not sure exactly what treatment/entitlements I should expect as a QF WP?

I am assuming I can't use the MEL QF First kerbside check-in? Is there a MH equivalent in MEL I can access to get an express pass etc? QF First lounge is a no-brainer and will be bee-lining for it as soon as I'm in. Can I expect anything like preferred seating as I can't seem to find a way to select a seat (travel was booked through corporate travel agent) or will I just get given the next seat off the list?

On the way back, what should I be looking out for in KUL as far as check-in and lounges?

Thanks in advance for any tips from the more seasoned travellers!

Hi, I flew MH on a return KUL-HKT trip. No special treatment for QF WP. The standard of the MH Golden Lounges in KUL is pretty ordinary - the main terminal lounge is superior to the regional platinum lounge in the Satellite building. No preferred seating or express pass.

Just as an update - checking in I used the 'business' lane and jumped the long general check-in queue in Melbourne at T-2hrs. Was given an express pass for customs and my luggage had a 'priority' label attached (which didn't eventuate in any sort of priority at the KL end but that's a whole different thread I'd imagine). Was also given a pass for the MH lounge in Melbourne (which I still have as I went to the QF FLounge instead).

On board, nothing special at all - I did end up in about the 6th row in the economy cabin which isn't too bad. Looking at Expert Flyer just before boarding it showed my seat and the one next to me as booked but then I had a spare seat next to me the whole way although I suspect this could have been due to people shuffling seats.

The regional lounge is in the main building, the satellite platinum, first and business lounges are together and currently closed for renos.

I've received No special treatment on my flights when I was OWE.

I have not received any special treatment as a Platinum but I have only flown business class to date.

Sorry to keep digging this thread up but final update...

Mid-week I did a return KUL-JKT day trip for a meeting (loooong day) which saw me get assigned exit row for myself and travelling companion on the way there and lounge access at both ends - otherwise no special treatment. Flight back was booked in business.

For my flight from KUL-MEL - checked in at the First Class check-in section in KUL where the staff were lovely and friendly with a priority tag added to luggage again and a pass to the MH lounge provided. I was advised of a 3hr delay due to insufficient operating airfcraft at KL and met with surprise I hadn't been notified already. At boarding I got the magical beep at the gate and was upgraded to business where the food and treatment were exceptional and very welcome after a long stay in the lounge at KLIA. Express passfor arrival was provided as it was to all other business customers (although not needed for eGate arrival process).

Congratulations on the op-up. I have yet to get an international op-up with MH but, then again, I haven't flown in international Y with them for the last 3 years since I achieved status with them. Although, I may be experiencing my first international Y flight with MH next year. Here's hoping for that magical beep at the gate! ;)
