Hi All, im sure this has been asked before but after poking my eyeballs out trying to find out I couldn't see the answer.

I have a voucher from a cancelled trip, and went to use it for a MEL/SYD/MEL red e-deal and the fares that it came back with were silly; $209 each way.
So forgetting that I did a plain search without using the voucher and low and behold they are much less $135 each way.

So whats the deal? is it because of the old fare conditions of the cancelled fare? or whats in play that I don't know about?
Which leads me to the question what is the best way to use them?

Cheers!

The Red e Deal conditions require a higher fare for the voucher to be used on at one stage.

The old voucher was a red e-deal and flexi fare combo.

The red e deal conditions will apply, as a rule where there are mixed fares the worst ones are applicable re changes.

The total new fare component being used with the voucher must be more than that value.

Perth may be a better bet.

Cool, thanks for that, can a voucher be applied to a MASA over the phone? or must the voucher be the originator of a booking?

From my understanding the conditions for using these vouchers are actually a little bit more complex.

The base fare (excluding taxes) of the new booking must be equal or greater than the base fare (excluding taxes) of the original booking.

I do not think you can use the voucher to pay for an Any Seat award.

For one to be rejected one must first ask the question :)

I had to ask the question right? ;)

There can also be pre-date filters applied to QF generated vouchers to cancelled but partially flown itineraries. Won't bore you with my recent case but the date it was cancelled determined the fare I paid for the re-book, regardless of the price I was able to see today.

Hurt my head!
