Group,

Am sure this topic has probably been done to death elsewhere, please feel free to direct me to the digest if that is the case. (Am not a frequent user of the forum). Ms Muzfly & I need to for family reasons travel to LA in late January ex BNE. Given the time of year its nigh on impossible at this late stage to get anything on QF using points save for Economy. Given that I am 6'5" and a reasonably large framed unit the idea of of going all that way in Economy is not one I'll entertain. As I'll be spending real $ (i.e. my own, not company's:( ) I'm thinking of traveling Premium Economy as frankly the $7K+ QF and VA are quoting for Business is out of the question. What is the group experience with Premium Economy? Is the QF product manifestly better/worse than the VA one? Would prefer to fly QF if there is no difference if only for the points and Status Credits, but if the VA product has more room, then VA it will be......

I'm 6'4" and a big frame too. I find both good, but QF has the edge on both seat and product IMHO.

For the price difference though, I pretty much always take VA. If you have some time on your hands, I suggest you originate your trip in NZ though (in Premium Economy) ;)

My wife who has done both rates VA far ahead in service, roughly par on food, and a bit behind in seating comfort (specifically, seat padding) on the aircraft which haven't been reupholstered.

+1 to drewbles' comments on ex-NZ pricing .
