Y to J QF30 HKG to MEL Oct 6th - I was rejected by text, twice, when I asked at check in, and at the gate where was told 'Business Class is full, as usual'.

Was upgraded when I handed my boarding pass to the agent, it had an error and they gave me a new boarding pass for seat 1K. Stunned.

QF1 Syd Sin today unsuccessful as a platinum for flex Y to J or W. Asked for seat next to me to be blocked in the flounge and it stuck so not the worst possible result.

FWIW availability was showing F3 J6 W0 before they processed upgrades at what looked to be about T-26

Woke up to the holy grail text message today.
1 x Flex Y > J successful on QF11 30/11/23 confirmed at T-60 as WP.

This is the earliest I’ve ever had a confirmation which was a bit of a shock. Previous upgrades came through around the T-42 mark.
Loadings on EF haven’t budged either, still showing I9. I wonder if that will reduce after the next round of upgrades?

Just received a Y+ (classic reward) to J upgrade on QF291 (SYD to SIN) a full 7 days out as WP. We are in shock. Loads were ok but not that light (no I class). Any idea why Qantas would confirm it so far in advance?

7 day window is usually for P1 upgrades. That seems very unusual but well.. "bank error in your favour" I guess... enjoy the flight on AY.. I mean QF

How are the Y+ loads? Could it be something bizarre like a P1 has requested an upgrade to a full Y+ cabin and that has shunted you up to J?

Y+ is pretty much empty. Although have been trying for weeks to get another classic reward seat in Y+ and constantly denied (with T9, it’s now T7).

It is actually bizarre and slightly panicking they are going to realise their error and reverse it!

It makes me wonder how sophisticated Qantas is with analytics. We just booked our first ever Star Alliance business class round the world paid tickets! As WP and LTG.

Upgrade from economy to business of QF26 HND->SYD, 26th Nov approved 24 hours prior

Plane actually flew with 2 bus seats empty

Upgrade from economy to business on QF291 SYD->SIN, Sat 16th Dec, approved a week in advance

So that make 3 upgrade to business in a row (syd->ign oct 26th, posted earlier, is the 3rd)

Was a plat for the 1st, gold for 2nd two
