QF Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

There is hope for lowly Bronze! - 2 from 2 successful upgrades from Y+ -> J on QF63/64 to/from Joburg over the past 3 weeks. Both confirmed at ~T-24hrs.

Lucky enough to score one of the ER birds on the way over with Skybed Mk II however on one of the two remaining ugly ducklings VH-OEB with original Skybed on the way back. Quite a difference.

Fair enough assumption that JNB is one of the easier routes to secure?

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

QF1 DXB-LHR segment only, 3 upgrades from Y to J a couple of weeks ago, ended up at the very front of J, was quite nice and quiet. SG + 2 NBs, all requested by SG.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

16 Sept, QF11 Y+ to J x3 pax - unsuccessful (1 WP, 1 SG, 1 PS).
5 Oct QF16 Y+ to J x 3 pax - successful at T-57 or so
17 Oct QF17 Y+ to J - 1 pax, WP - successful at T-61. Light loading according to EF, could see more than 30 unalloacted seats in J before my UG came through. All J, Y+ and most Y classes were showing 9s yesterday (2 days before flight). Have snagged 5J after I was assigned 2B.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Just got that lovely text message from the QF upgrade fairy. QF12 J -> F confirmed at T-27hrs. Strange as F was showing as F1 A0 this morning and I'm only SG. Not getting too excited though until I have boarding pass in hand though. I did have to push my flights back for medical reasons and was just about in tears on the phone to the young woman when I was changing my flights so perhaps that has something to do with it? Maybe I was just extremely lucky - either way it will make for a very lovely flight home.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

That's promising for me in a couple of weeks to know that they do happen. I'm same flight, same QF status, Same upgrade request. Fingers crossed

I'm watching EF and its still showing about 8 F seats still avail.

Woo Hoo, how good is this. Got the magic text at T28 J to F on QF11. Seat 1A for me and 4F for mrs eric. Shame we cant be a bit closer but doesn't matter really. EF was showing F5 and A2 when I looked early this morning so was a little bit confident. QF12 coming home is next and EF shows it looking real good

If that were Mrs GPH and me. She would be thrilled to be in another part of the cabin , up close and personal is not her style.
Good on you for the upgrade.

Good on you for the upgrade.

We are exactly the same as you two then. To be honest sitting near each other in the F suites still isn't near or conducive to conversation.
It is quite good for dining together though.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

MrP often works on flights and mightn't drink alcohol. Being separated on planes allows him to work without disruption - and me to eat and drink and do exactly what I want to without any guilt! Works for me.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Successful upgrade at check-in on a full QF42 from CGK from either a economy or flex economy ticket. Refurb map when requesting but plane swapped for VH-EBL. Still managed ~4hrs sleep so well worth the points. One day I'll understand how QF41 can be nearly empty and QF42 always appears to booked solid.

Thats 3 from 4 for this year.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

And the 100% sticks, for now... no confirmation by SMS, but warned by 'Check My Trip' of a possible flight cancellation, whereas it was actually my seat being taken out of that cabin. Now reconfirmed with semi-preferred seat in J :)
I didn't know that happens. Good to know ahead of time. Thanks!

It hasn't happened that way for a while now, actually... not sure if some setting I switched off on 'Check My Trip'... I would have had about another 8-10 upgrades since...

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

So I had my first unsuccessful upgrade request as a QF WP occur today... QF81 SYD-SIN was showing zeros in all buckets for a while, but hopes didn't let up until boarding, regardless! Now, thankfully, while it was full in J, it was far from full in Y, so at least I maintained a shadow.

Haven't done the math yet, but probably takes me from 100% down to about 95%. Might edge up a little on the way home next weekend...

Cheers,
Matt.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Successful upgrade QF93 Melbourne to LAX 26/11/15
Economy Saver (L) to Business with only QFF silver.
Confirmed T-27 hours which I thought was unusually early for such a low level FF.
Happy days!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

MrsChooms and I are off on QF11 in about two weeks time... peak school holidays.

Request in for upgrade J->F when tickets booked back in August.

Current loads via EF:

Hopeful of no last minute rush... but I am sure the QF buy-J-get-F sale won't help. Was showing F9 A9 up until today...

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

1 from the last 5 for me.

September 2015 SYD-PVG - No (Y to J)
September 2015 PVG-SYD - No (Y to J)
November 2015 SYD-HKG - Yes (Y+ to J)
November 2015 HKG-SYD - No (Y+ to J)
November 2015 AKL-MEL - No (Y to J)

The disappointment was tempered by the supreme skill of the P1 team in finding me suitable seat mates. :p (To be fair and not take the mickey the flights were pretty full which I think is a good thing - a failing QF doesn't help us at all)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

success tomorrow for QF 127 SYD-HKG (Y -> J)
sms for upgrade came through at T-30 hours for SG (earlier than I thought it would) was showing J9 C9 D9 I0 at T-48 hours so I figured it would have been a decent chance

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Successful upgrade for both of us on QF 128 on Monday. Advised at T48 ,PE sale fare to J. Both WP, allocated seats 1J & K . Flight delayed 3 hours, but more time to spend in the lounge !!! Great flight with fantastic crew.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Successes on both QF11 & QF12
J ---> F (WP)
SMS @ T-60

Plenty of time to select seats as cabins were wide open.

..... now, if only there had been some hot towel on QF 12 (missing on departure & post breakfast) - FWP, I know.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Upgraded from Economy (L) to Business on QF6 (11th November) using points literally requested at T-25 (10 minutes from when OLCI opened).

Upgrade came through at T-12 when I went to check my booking though I didn't receive a text message.

QF Club Bronze.

I think what happened was a last minute equipment change from the seat business suite back down to an old config with Mk 1 skybeds. I had been checking the seat map on expert flyer.
Was pretty stoked with the upgrade as the late departure let me get some sleep before a full day of work!

ps finally stopped being a lurker today ahaha
