Hi all

I have a PER-YVR flight coming up with connections in SYD and LAX. PER to SYD is on QF, SYD - LAX is on UA and LAX - YVR is on AC. Will my bags be interlined to whole way and will I be able to jump on the QF terminla transfer bus in SYD? Its all on one PRN.

Cheers

Ray, I have a feeling the answer will be no. My brother in law had a similar itinerary but UA all the way to Boston. QF did not interline for him

If all segments are on the one ticket then Qantas WILL interline through to YVR.

If they are on separate tickets the answer will probably be no.

Latest Qantas News

From Wednesday 3 November 2010 customers holding two separate reservations (PNRs) for their journey will no longer be provided with through check or baggage interline through to their final travel destination.

Qantas will however, continue to provide this facility for customers connecting with Qantas flights and oneworld carriers (please note: other exemptions apply).

Thanks

Any idea if I can transfer on the QF bus? The QF site says 'A shuttle bus service is available to passengers that are travelling or have travelled on a Qantas flight (including codeshare flights^) or oneworld flight.' So if I read this correctly I can use the bus as I have travelled on a Qantas flight?

Has anyone experienced this?

Is the the two departure control system limitation a problem? In any case, IME, in LAX you have to collect your baggage anyway, and lug it to another conveyor. (and do all the immigration formalities...)

It doesn't matter what departure control systems you have as you could previously interline bags between carriers eg QF/UA or QF/LH but boarding passes had to be issued by UA or LH.

The issue was that if QF through checked a bag to FRA whereby pax was on one pnr SYD/SIN on QF then a separate pnr SIN/FRA booked separately with LH QF then assume responsibility for accommodating them if they misconnect where QF is late & they miss their LH flight.

It all came to a head when the Icelandic volanco erupted & QF had to accomnodate these interlining pax as well as their own pax in hotels worldwide which obviously wasn't cheap. Also a logistical nightmare as all flights were not in the one pnr it made things extremely difficult to know where their final destination was when it came to rebooking them.
