John Borghetti, the airline's executive general manager, said twin-aisle Airbus A330 and Boeing 767 aircraft would be used exclusively on the east-west route.
Qantas has taken the action to retain high-profit business travellers amid growing competition from its discount off-shoot Jetstar and rivals Virgin Blue and soon-to-launch Tiger Airways.
Qantas will replace its Boeing 767s on the Perth-Hong Kong route with Airbus A330 aircraft.
Assume this will co-incide with the 743 retirements
