Qantas is to withdraw services between Darwin and Denpasar from October 12 and is in discussions with Airnorth regarding a possible codeshare deal.

Qantas said passengers can transfer to another carrier, hange dates, bypass Denpasar as a stopover or change destinations without penalty.

Interesting... These fares can still be booked, after the flights have been cancelled. Shame that they're horribly expensive.

I used to see this route pop up occasionally as an option to SIN on the booking website (or maybe it was a certain travel agent's site ... cant remember now!)

I'm not sure what the loads to DPS are these days, but I do believe Australians are avoiding the place due to the negative DFAT advisory on travel to there, the risk of terrorism and negative publicity regarding the drug arrests over there.

I think it's interesting that Qantas is negotiating with an airline with very small capacity planes. Were loads that bad?

Personally, I think JQi make more money on that route than flying a QF service viaDRW! Why not start pulling QF off services where they are profitable, but JQi might be even more so?!

Additionally, JQi "sale" pricings have not been that generous to DPS recently, another indication that stimulating demand via price is not so important to Qantas Group.

I just got a phone call today in regards to the matter, telling me that the flight booked for December on the route has been cancelled. They haven't got a solution yet, but will have something finalised by the end of the month they said and will still arrive the same day. I guess we'll see how things turn out, should be interesting anyway!

Have been attempting to book award flights DPS/DRW/CNS for a few weeks
on the Qantas website and always encountered an error when attempting to move to the payment details screen "We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please cancel these segments and choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your confirmation request. " I did a dummy departing CGK, no problems getting to the payment screen. Charges/Taxes ripoff on the website was IRP 1426900 which works out to around AUD$169.

Rang the call centre and booked the flights (2500 points waived), this time the charges/taxes came in at USD$85.57 (AUD$93), saving of $76 per person.:?:

Dollars will come in handy paying the excess luggage charges departing DPS on Air North.
