About to make a International J Saver booking

If I cancelled the booking prior to date of departure can I get a refund less the cancellation fee rather using the credit toward a higher fare?

Yes, you can. They may try and have you keep it in credit, but you can still get a refund.

Yep. $300 penalty to cancel and get a refund. $200 penalty to change.

Yes you can - i did it not long ago. As long as the refund goes onto the same credit card that was used to make the original payment, I was told. I did it over the phone, but the operator told me that even if i did it online and it got converted into a voucher, I could later call and they would refund the voucher back to the CC.

PS takes several weeks to process

While it took me several calls to get it done, followed up and finally fixed, I too have been able to get a refund even though the online options suggest a credit only. I have another one in the works right now and know I will need a couple more calls to get the refund processed correctly but that's OK, I can be patient and persistent when there's big bucks stake.
