Howdy all,
Long-time reader, first-time poster here.
Disclaimer: I’ve never payed much attention to QF Status, so forgive me for this likely foolish question-

Recently I’ve found myself in a fortunate position allowing for regular domestic hops in J (despite the pandemic, which is a pleasant surprise). I figured I may as well put these newfound Status Credits to use, but I’d really appreciate some clarification surrounding the deadlines to attain/retain Status. I’m currently Bronze (lame, I know), and have until August 30 2021 to earn 260 more Status Credits and attain Silver. Achieving this shouldn’t be too difficult, but here’s where I’m confused: I will likely reach the 300 Status Credits required to attain Silver relatively close to the end of my Membership Year. So, assuming it’s now June/July 2021 and I’ve reached Silver, I then have to earn another 250 Status Credits to retain this Tier (which is a more difficult feat). Considering Qantas resets one’s Status Points at the beginning of each Membership Year, does this mean I will completely lose Silver on August 30 2021 (shortly after attaining it), or will I retain this Tier and only lose new Status Credits that are being earned towards Gold?

Thank you in advance!

Solution
All of the status credits you earn until the end of your membership year (31 Aug 2021) will be reset to zero* on 01 Sept 2021. However, your silver membership will last for the whole of the next membership year, i.e. until 31 Aug 2022.

*However, they will be counted in your lifetime status and at 7,000 SCs you will have lifetime silver and at 14,000 SCs you will have lifetime Gold, and some stupid figure for lifetime platinum.

In addition, there is an exceptional status rollover happenning. All details here Status Support | Qantas Frequent Flyer . With your circumstances, you should exceptionnaly start your next membership year with 100sc, helping you to retain silver for the membership year starting August 2022.

Note that few people here in this forum would consider attaining or requalifying silver something worth chasing actively, but if it happens organicly why not!
